The European Journal of Social Work provides an international forum for the social professions, in which diverse and developing traditions in the discipline and practice of social work can be shared, compared and celebrated. It analyses and promotes, in a critical, informed and independent manner, European and international developments in social work, social policy, social service institutions, and strategies for social change. Recognising positively the diversity of cultural and conceptual traditions in which the social professions are grounded, it explores their specific competence in promoting practice based on justice and the recognition of human rights. The editorial board welcomes high quality contributions dealing with local, national, European, or international issues which advance this discourse.
Contributors may submit to a range of sections in the journal:
· Full academic papers (5,000 – 7,000 words) may be drawn from either theoretical or empirical work and are subject to peer review. Accepted papers are published on advance web access to ensure the quickest possible entry into the public domain.
· Country Perspectives (1,500 words) take the form of short reflective pieces on social work within specific national contexts, or national/international conference reports.
· Research Notes (1,500 words) comprise summary findings from research studies and doctoral dissertations, or accounts of work in progress and methodological debate.
· Reviews are carried on a wide range of publications.
