Call for: Editorial Board Vacancies - European Journal of Social Work
EDITORIAL BOARD VACANCIES
RESPOND BY 1 SEPTEMBER 2018
European Journal of Social Work is seeking to appoint new members to the editorial board. We currently have members from Austria, Belgium, Croatia, Cyprus, England, Germany, Ireland, Italy, and Sweden, and would like to expand both our numbers and the range of countries involved. The editorial board plays an important role in developing journal policy, reviewing and developing content, and implementing academic and publishing objectives. We expect all members to commit time and energy to playing an active role in journal work.
New members must have:
- Experience in research, education or practice in the social professions, and a track record of writing successfully for publication in peer reviewed journals;
- Understanding of what makes a good quality academic journal in the European social work context;
- Commitment to build the journal’s profile and presence across Europe and beyond, to involve:
- Undertaking regular peer reviews of papers submitted to the journal;
- Promoting the journal when attending meetings, networks and conferences by liaising with potential contributors and subscribers;
- Encouraging submission of contributions and offering support to authors;
- Liaising with national and international organizations;
- Contributing occasional editorial material.
- A collaborative approach to working with colleagues to pursue collectively agreed goals for the journal. This will require:
- Openness to crossing boundaries – those of nation states, language, culture, paradigm;
- Preparedness to attend journal board meetings (currently held biennally in one of the European countries represented on the board);
- Responsive engagement in email communication on matters of journal policy and timely reports on work undertaken on behalf of the journal;
- Fluent written and spoken English language skills.
Appointment to the editorial board does not carry any remuneration, but travel costs for attendance at board meetings and other agreed expenses are supported by the journal.

Expressions of interest will be viewed by the board and you may be invited to meet with representatives of the board to discuss potential membership prior to decisions being made.
